5 Romantic Things For Couples To Do in Atlanta
Here are 5 fun ideas for romantic things for couples to do in Atlanta that you may not have thought of before.
Everyone knows that time is key to a successful relationship. If you don’t spend time together, there really isn’t a relationship to be in. For some, that time might be spent over Skype or phone calls, for others that time is watching The Voice together on the couch. Still, every now and then it’s nice to get out of the house and enjoy some quality time in the big city. The following list gives a few suggestions for things couples can do to spend that ever important quality time together while in the beautiful Atlanta, Georgia.
1. Get coffee together
Theres something innately romantic about a nice neighborhood coffee shop. They are cozy, surprisingly low key for the amount of caffein in the air and often full of big overstuffed couches perfect for lounging on. My husband and I love exploring the different java stops Atlanta has to offer, one of the few places in the world you’re still allowed to loiter for hours for the price of a single latte. Lots of shops keep board games around for a night full of laughs. Even if you just sit and talk, a coffee shop is a great place to hang out with the one you care about. Looking for ideas? Check out Taproom in Kirkwood (they also serve beer if you don’t like caffein in the evening) or the Ébrìk Coffee Room downtown, they both get 4+ stars on yelp and I can personally vouch for the atmosphere.
2. Get a massage
Life can be stressful between work and home and traffic, especially Atlanta traffic, who could blame you for being a little frazzled? Chances are, your significant other feels the exact same way. So why not relax together? I recommend a couples massage for a relaxing experience you can share and use to reconnect while also encouraging bonding and intimacy. Not to mention the fact that it feels darn good. A couple’s massage will run you anywhere from $100 to $250 and up. If that sounds a bit steep…well you’ve probably never indulged in a couples massage before. But if you really aren’t comfortable with spending that kind of money for the first time check out Groupon, there’s almost always a discounted couples massage available somewhere in the city.
3. Go listen to some live music
Another favorite for my man and I, we will almost never turn down an evening of live music. No matter if it’s jazz in a low lit restaurant, or a free country concert in the park, theres something electric about being surrounded by music and music lovers. Yelling over the guitar, or leaning against each other as you soak in the dulcet tones of the saxophone, its all about shared experiences. Singing along, dancing together, enjoying each other’s company and remembering why you’re together (as if you could forget). That, my friends, is what its all about. Visit atlantamusicguide.com if you’re interested in finding out who will be playing around town, and when and where their next show will be.
4. Have a picnic in the park
Now that we’re in the cooler fall and winter months here in Georgia, its actually the perfect time to get outside. Bundle up with a scarf and bring an extra blanket and find a nice spot in a park nearby. This picnic can be as simple as cheese and crackers with sparkling grape juice (no open bottles of alcohol allowed in the park, so save the wine for when you get home) or as elaborate as a chicken dinner with sides and dessert. As long as its time spent together, enjoying nature, how can you go wrong?
5. Eat Out
I’m a sucker for classics, and this one is as old as it gets. And do you know why? Because we always need to be reminded to get out of our routine. It’s so easy to go to work everyday, come home and flip on the tv, and get up and do it all over again, that sometimes we forget how important it is to dress up and enjoy showing each other off to the world. It doesn’t have to be something big, sometimes celebrating the little things are so much more meaningful. Celebrate your girls’ new hair color. Celebrate your guys’ football team winning their game. Dress up, go out. And don’t forget to try something new. Thats what makes this the most fun. Challenge yourself to never go to the same place twice. Try new foods. You never know what new thing might become an old favorite.
Atlanta may not seem like the most romantic city in the world and lets be honest, it’s not Paris. But it is still a big city with lots to do for singles and for couples. Something as spontaneous and low key as a late night coffee break, as luxurious as a couples massage or as much fun as a live concert, theres no shortage of things for you and your honey to do. What do you and your partner like to do? We’re always looking for ideas, so let us know what we missed.
