Valentine’s Day in Orlando: The Most Romantic Ways to Enjoy the Holiday

In the mood for something to do with your partner? Book a trip to Orlando and plan a vacation packed with fun and excitement that you won't soon forget.

It’s no Paris, but Orlando can be an incredibly romantic place to spend Valentine’s Day with the most important person in your life. Even though it might not pop into your mind when you first think of the best couples’ getaways, this popular vacation destination is the perfect way to combine fun in the sun with the most cherished of romantic holidays. Bring your beloved and enjoy warm weather in the middle of February, and all the best dining, nightlife, and entertainment the Sunshine State has to offer. Whatever you’re in the mood for this Valentine’s Day, you can find it in Orlando!

Stay at the Grand Bohemian

Why not start this list of Valentine’s Day activities in Orlando with something extra extravagant? The Grand Bohemian Hotel is often referred to as one of the top hotels in Orlando, and with good reason. This exquisite accommodation option is an Orlando area landmark, located in a historic building on a bustling corner in the downtown area. Because it is largely considered a romantic getaway (with some business travelers thrown into the mix), there are few children present within this hotel’s walls, which is something of a feat for any lodging in Orlando. With rooms designed in an Art Deco style and a lobby decorated with a European Bohemian twist, you’ll feel like you’ve been whisked away into a modernist fantasy as soon as you step through the doors of this elaborate, incredibly romantic hotel.

Book your room as part of the hotel’s Bohemian Bliss package and enjoy everything a Valentine’s Day getaway should be. This package includes a room for two for one night, dinner for two at the lavish on-site restaurant called The Boheme, an hour-long couples’ massage, chocolate-covered strawberries, and champagne to enjoy in the room. For a slightly different take on a similar romantic package, book the Today, Tomorrow, and Forever deal, which includes a single night stay for two, dinner at The Boheme, an in-room movie credit, and breakfast in bed for two the following morning. Either of these two accommodation packages are sure to wow your beloved and make you into a true Valentine’s Day hero! However, if you prefer to choose something a little less pricey, simply book your stay in one of the hotel’s many jacuzzi suites. These rooms feature a separate living and dining area tucked away from the bedroom, as well as a spacious jacuzzi located just off of the bedroom in the luxurious bathroom. Retire to your jacuzzi room for a romantic night in after spending your day exploring other Valentine’s Day endeavors throughout the city. With a central location to most downtown Orlando attractions, the Grand Bohemian is as convenient as it is enticing!

The Grand Bohemian Hotel is located at 325 South Orange Avenue in Orlando.

Nude Nite

Don’t worry! Nude Nite isn’t quite as raunchy as it sounds, but it is still an excellent way to spend a romantic night in the heart of central Florida. Nude Nite is an arts and entertainment extravaganza that takes place amidst the hustle and bustle of the tourist part of town, although it is most commonly attended by area locals looking to spice up their February. The entire event is centered around the natural beauty of the nude figure, and nudes play a pivotal role in every piece of art on display. Walk through several rows of portraits and other paintings, and admire sculptures of the nude form as well. However, the most popular (and noticeable) attraction of Nude Nite is the live art exhibit, which features a wide variety of artistic interpretations of the nude figure, all with completely live models posing as part of the scenes. Although most of the models will be at least somewhat covered, don’t be surprised if you see complete nudity in some of the pieces at this event.

Nude Nite is not for the faint of heart or for the politer couples out there, but if you and your partner enjoy art and don’t have a problem seeing other people completely naked, then check out this unique event from February 11-13 in Orlando. Tickets run about $20 per person, but may be slightly more expensive depending on the date you plan to visit. Purchase your tickets ahead of time, as the event is very popular and tends to sell out, but be sure to bring along plenty of extra cash for the on-site bar and finger foods that are available while you peruse the art and hob-nob with the artists. Plan to spend a long while admiring the pieces on display, but be aware that only cell phone photos are permitted, for the safety and privacy of the people involved with the live art displays. It may go without saying, but attendees must be 21 or older.

Nude Nite takes place at Artegon at 5250 International Drive in Orlando.

Visit Mount Dora

Mount Dora is a quaint little community located about a 45-minute drive outside of Orlando. If you’re in town for several days and would like to get away from the excitement of the city and the theme parks for your Valentine’s Day experience, consider heading to this beautiful town and exploring its hidden nooks and crannies for an afternoon. Find a public parking lot (many of which are free or cost very little), and take a stroll throughout the town. Window shop at one of many fine stores that line the main stretches of road throughout the neighborhood, or have a romantic high tea at the Windsor Rose, a British-style tea house that serves high tea every day. Valentine’s Day is a wonderful time to experience everything Mount Dora has to offer, as you walk hand in hand with your partner and take in all the sights, sounds, and historic character of this Orlando area hidden gem.

If you and your lover enjoy art, plan your Valentine’s Day trip to Mount Dora around one of many art events that take place in the town throughout the month. The weekend before Valentine’s Day, you can check out the Mount Dora Arts Festival, one of the largest art-related events in the area. This festival takes place at the Mount Dora Center for the Arts on the Saturday and Sunday before Valentine’s Day, and admission to the event is completely free. If, however, you are looking for something to do a little bit closer to the holiday itself, check out the Second Friday Art Stroll, which will be taking place on February 12 in 2016. Every second Friday of every month, guests are welcome to tour art exhibits for free throughout the streets of Mount Dora. Live music and free samples of food and wine are widely available to all attendees, and you can pick up a map at just about any area business to help you keep track of where you’re heading as you explore. Any couple who loves a little culture in their lives will enjoy this romantic night out!

Art Strolls and the Arts Festival can be found on the Mount Dora Center for the Arts monthly calendar.

Victoria & Albert's

Victoria & Albert’s is easily one of the finest dining experiences in Orlando, and a dinner here is second to none. If you have plenty of money to spend on your Valentine’s Day celebration, consider booking a table for one of the most romantic meals in the city at this exquisite restaurant on Disney property. Victoria & Albert’s is located inside Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, but you do not have to be staying at the Grand Floridian (or visiting the theme parks) in order to get a reservation at this exquisite restaurant. A reservation at Victoria & Albert’s also guarantees you free parking at the hotel, but you can always upgrade to paid valet parking if you prefer. Why not? An evening at this restaurant is all about romantic indulgence, after all!

The ingredients used at Victoria & Albert’s are some of the finest in the world, and the atmosphere itself is incredible. Book a traditional meal in the dining room, or upgrade for an additional cost to the chef’s table in the kitchen or the completely private Queen Victoria room for a substantial price increase. The traditional dining room meal is served as a 7-course dinner, with a few different selections available during each course, and frequent use of rare white truffles in the recipes. Start off your meal with caviar, then try some local Gulf shrimp with hearts of palm, followed by wild turbot with capers and lemon. Move on then to the main courses, and sample duck with turnip kraut, as well as an excellent cut of Kobe beef with Bordelaise sauce. Finish your dinner with a selection of cheese and a Grand Marnier soufflé for the perfect evening. Remember that Victoria & Albert’s is an incredibly popular restaurant, and if you plan to visit for Valentine’s Day, it is in your best interest to get a reservation well ahead of time. Cupid's Undie Run

If you feel like doing something great for someone else while taking part in one of the city’s more bizarre (but fun!) annual activities, check out the Cupid’s Undie Run, which takes place in the first part of February every year. The run supports the Children’s Tumor Foundation and its goal to research and eventually end a childhood illness known as neurofibromatosis. When you sign up, you are helping to increase awareness and contribute to fundraising efforts for this very important charity. And yes, in case you were wondering, runners are encouraged to participate in their underwear! Cupid’s Undie Run believes that, since people who have tumors aren’t able to cover up to feel comfortable, those who help raise money for the cause should bare it all, too.

This is a unique event that may or may not be for everyone, but if you and your honey like making a difference and tend to be the athletic types, consider signing up for a romantic rendezvous in your undies, in public! In 2016, Cupid’s Undie Run takes place on February 6, but the date changes throughout the year and usually falls within a week of Valentine’s Day. Locals or anyone visiting for a longer time during the Valentine season can easily participate in this fun and hilarious event. The run itself covers only a mile, so even if you aren’t as in shape as you’d like to be, you can easily complete the run, or even walk it at your own pace. Before and after the run itself, participate in a party full of people in their undies celebrating and helping out for a worthy cause. Cupid’s Undie Run begins in downtown Orlando, and once again, undies are encouraged but not required in order to participate.

Cupid’s Undie Run kicks off at 9 West Washington Street in Orlando.

Wekiwa Springs

Outdoorsy couples are sure to love spending a day at Wekiwa Springs, one of the nicest state parks in all of Florida. Wekiwa Springs, located at the top of the Wekiva River, can be easily reached from Orlando within an hour’s drive (or less, depending on the part of town where you and your partner are staying). It provides ample opportunity to get out and enjoy nature without having to travel too far away from the hub of excitement in central Florida. Best of all, if you visit for Valentine’s Day, you can expect nice weather and a good chance of sunshine! It may be a little too cold to go swimming in the springs at this time of the year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy all the hiking, kayaking, camping, horseback riding and more that Wekiwa Springs is known for.

A trip to Wekiwa Springs is a great way to enjoy some alone time with your beloved, even in the middle of a busy Orlando vacation. Consider booking an overnight at the Wekiwa campground, which has sixty available camp sites with water and electricity for RV camping and plenty of seating space for those who plan to camp in a tent instead. If you don’t have the time to stay overnight, at least spend the whole day in the park, and enjoy the various hiking and nature trails available throughout the area. Take a 1-mile round trip hike for a romantic stroll in the woods, or rekindle your shared love of nature by tackling the longest trail in the park, a 13.5 mile round trip. Many trails are bicycle friendly, so if the two of you enjoy bike rides together, consider bringing along your cycles or renting one from the park itself. Last but not least, geocaching is a very popular activity at Wekiwa Springs, and if you like the idea of a scavenger hunt on a global scale, you might want to take a peek at the caches available at this location.

Wekiwa Springs is located at 1800 Wekiwa Circle in Apopka.

Greenwood Cemetery Moonlight Walking Tour

It takes a special kind of romantic partner to enjoy a walk through a cemetery under the moonlight, but if you and your lover fit the criteria, then a Greenwood Cemetery Moonlight Walking Tour might be just the date night for you! Greenwood Cemetery, located in downtown Orlando, is an 82-acre piece of land full of beautiful sculptures, Spanish moss, and incredibly old tombstones that are just waiting to be explored. The cemetery dates back to 1880, when it was designated as the city’s first official burial site. Several famous Floridians are buried within its walls, but even if you aren’t looking for a specific tombstone, this can be a great place to get out and enjoy a slightly spooky stroll under the moonlight on a balmy February night in Orlando.

The Moonlight Walking Tour takes place under every full moon, and as such, it may not always fall right at Valentine’s Day. In 2016, it is scheduled for February 19, so if you have planned a few days of romantic activities for you and your loved one, you should still be able to fit in this romantic romp through the cemetery after dark. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes, as the walk covers about four miles of ground space, and be sure to RSVP well ahead of time. The event is actually free to attend (with a suggested donation to an area charity encouraged but not required), but it is very popular, particularly around Valentine’s Day, so it is in your best interest to schedule as early as possible. While visiting the cemetery, remember to behave with respect and do not walk away from the trails that are provided for guest use. Do not step on a grave, do not cause any damage to the tombstones, and do not litter!

Greenwood Cemetery is located at 1603 Greenwood Street in Orlando.

Disney Nightlife

Of course, one of the biggest draws to Orlando is Walt Disney World, and a trip to Disney can be romantic all on its own if you and your partner like theme parks. However, if you’re looking for something a little more special than a simple day out at the parks, consider taking part in Disney’s elaborate nightlife scene. The parks themselves host nightly fireworks displays that cannot be compared to any other fireworks shows in the area, and you can easily see them from some of the hotels on the property if you don’t care to pay for a park ticket. Of course, admission to the fireworks displays is included with your park ticket for the day, so if you feel like spending the money, you can stake out an up close and personal view of these romantic bursts of nighttime color.

Disney Springs is another excellent place to enjoy the best nightlife this theme park giant has to offer. Admission to Disney Springs is free, as is parking in the on-site garage, so you can devote all of your Valentine’s Day budget to a delicious dinner and tasty drinks at one of the many restaurants or bars within this massive shopping center. Enjoy the warm Florida weather as you and your sweetheart take a stroll through the stores and do some window shopping before sitting down to a meal at Wolfgang Puck’s, Bongo’s Cuban Café, or one of the many other unique and delectable dining options located within Disney Springs. If you feel like being a little old-fashioned with your Valentine’s Day date night, you can also take in a movie at the large AMC Theater located just near the parking garage. Plan to arrive early to account for driving and walking traffic, as Disney Springs gets pretty busy on holidays, including Valentine’s Day.

Disney Springs is located at 1486 Buena Vista Drive in Orlando.
