The Best BBQ in Las Vegas: A Meat-lovers Guide to Sin City

If you're craving for barbecue, you don't have to go all the way to Texas or Tennessee! In this glittering city, you can get any food you want, and that includes smokin' good barbecue!

They say you can only get the best BBQ in Austin, Texas or Memphis, Tennessee. I’d like to add one more location: Las Vegas!

Here in the glittering city Las Vegas, you can have anything you want, from the most exotic of dishes to the most commonplace, and that includes the best barbecue stateside! So we put that theory to the test (burp!) and here, in no particular order, are some of the best BBQ places in Las Vegas.

Pot Liquor CAS

“Just a little brisket #southinmymouth #sofull #leftoversfordays”

Pot Liquor CAS has been awarded with "The Best of Las Vegas BBQ 2015" by the Las Vegas Review-Journal Poll and “Diner's Choice Awards 2015” by OpenTable. This establishment has a relaxing, casual ambience, where you can just sit down and enjoy great food and drinks with your friends, family, or even on your own!

Now for the rather strange name… what IS Pot Liquor CAS? Pot liquor is “the liquid that is left behind after boiling greens (collard greens, mustard greens, turnip greens)" and CAS stands for “Contemporary American Smokehouse”. Mmm… now wonder the food here is so tasty!

Pot Liquor CAS wanted to make the best barbecues in the country and have achieved great success in doing so! It’s in the wood, you see—grilling naturally gives the meat a smoky flavor, and using cherry wood and peach wood lends sweetness to the BBQ, while using mesquite and oak adds a spicy tinge to the mix. Pot Liquor CAS makes sure that everything is made in-house, from smoking the meats to making all the sauces, all done under one roof! Talk about love and passion!

Pot Liquor CAS only uses the freshest and the best quality ingredients for their barbecue and sides. Bestsellers include the Memphis Style Dry Rubbed Spareribs, Mopped Baby Back Ribs, Texas Style Beef Brisket, Carolina Pulled Pork, "Moinks" Bacon Wrapped Meatballs, and of course, one must not forget the sides Cornbread with Honey Butter, Signature Collard Greens, and the Fries with Alabama White Sauce.

Be sure to make room for Pot Liquor CAS's to die for desserts. Try their scrumptious Brownie Bread Pudding and the Good Ole' American Apple Pie that would make even Grandma proud.

Cody’s Smokin’ Barbecue

“I can see why @codyssmokinbbq is the BEST #TexasDryRubRibs in #Vegas! #CodysSmokinBBQ"

Cody’s Smokin’ Barbecue is a dive bar that’s located off the beaten path. Tucked away from the glitz and glamor of Las Vegas, it might be a bit difficult to locate this place, but once you do, it sure is well worth the search. I suggest a combination of navigating with both your phone, and once in the area, follow your nose.

Cody’s Smokin’ Barbecue is widely considered to be one of the best barbeque spots in Las Vegas. This place has a small, straightforward menu, but everything they have here is perfected. You’ll see what I mean once you sink your teeth into their meats. Home-cooked goodness!

The famous pulled pork has a perfect sauce to meat ratio and the perfect texture. You can taste the spices in the meat, and even the sauce is just perfection in taste and consistency, plus it doesn’t overpower, but beautifully complements the natural flavors of the pork. If you want white meat, they also serve pulled chicken.

Another must-try are the Baby Back Ribs. Now if you order any meat at Cody’s Smokin’ Barbecue, you get a two fix-ins and a drink, which in my opinion is a steal! Sides are the unforgettable mac and cheese, and the collard greens here at Cody’s is one of the best I have ever tasted!

Cody’s offers meat combos, where you can choose from one to three kinds of meats. Great way to feed a group and try everything at the same time too!

Come to Cody’s for some R&R in glitzy Las Vegas without the fuss, plus great drinks paired with great food.

Rollin Smoke

“Plated up #chickendinner #pollo #bbq #texasbbq #atx #rollinsmokeatx #foodporn #latenight #eastside #smoke #smokering #bark #rub #foodtruck #meat…”

The owners of Rollin Smoke moved from Arkansas to Las Vegas a few years back, and fueled with passion for food, the father and son duo decided to cook some good old Southern country food and barbecue right on the roadside! Because they make it so well, Rollin Smoke quickly escalated into a countrywide frenzy, and from then, on the owners were able to save up money to open a brick and mortar dining place for their loyal clientele and tourists alike.

Rollin Smoke has been cooking up hickory smoked, fall off the bone tender BBQ, and take great pride in making excellent homemade fresh Southern style dishes every day.

Rollin Smoke’s bestselling sandwiches are the Pulled Piggy Sandwich, the zesty BIGGIN Dad's Favorite (homemade sausage, chopped brisket and pulled pork, all in one sandwich!) served with fantastic waffle fries, Po-Boy Sandwich (sliced brisket, catfish, shrimp).

For smoked meaty goodness, try the Pork "BabyBacks", "World Famous" Beef Ribs, and one must order their most loved item on the menu (which was featured in the Travel Channel): the Smoked Meatloaf. Ladies and gentlemen, this baby here is made of beef smoked brisket and smoked pulled pork, served on a yummy pile of rustic mashed potatoes, topped with Rollin Smoke's "MaMa's" Sweet D-Licious Sauce and fried onion strings.

Speaking of delicious potatoes, try Spudtastic which is baked potato topped with your choice of meat, smothered in sour cream and cheese, and topped with beans and green onions.
Rollin Smoke's also have some amazing sides that goes perfectly with their barbecues: try the Loaded Mash, Collard Greens, Dirty Rice, and the Bacon Potato Salad.

Be sure to also try their Rollin Smoke's Southern Peach Cobbler, or “Mama’s” Banana Puddin for dessert.

Truck U Barbeque

“#truckubbq #foodtrucklife #sunsetparkd #bbq #november14”

Truck U Barbeque is the brainchild of celebrity chef Mike Minor. This highly decorated chef has been cooking for more than 20 years, and has been featured in the pages of major magazine and food networks.

Basically what Chef Mike Minor wanted was a fusion of legit BBQ, fused with Mexican cuisine specifically tacos, tortas and burritos. None of that that typical restaurant type, so he went for something flashy and crazy at the same time and voila! Truck U Barbeque was born.

Truck U Barbeque has been racking up a huge following of food lovers. With its high intensity rock and roll vibe, this food truck just makes you want to eat all you want, enjoy the good times, and to hell with everything else!

In my humble opinion, Truck U Barbeque is good. Really good—everything on the menu looks delicious and makes me just want to order everything all at once. I can never decide what to eat here—it’s always the same old dilemma of wanting to eat what you ordered last time, and exploring new options.

Best sellers are Austin Brisket Dip (slow-smoked brisket on a crispy roll, topped with Mexican cheeses and a horseradish-rosemary aioli, with bbq au jus and duck fat fries) and the Pork Butt Torta (served on a brioche bun, with ancho honey bbq sauce). Those are just the tortas, there’s still the barbecue taco and burrito menus: the Wagyu beef tacos and the blackened catfish are sublime. Burrito bestsellers are the Short Rib Burritos and the Burnt End's and Fries Burritos.

They also serve a giant one-pound BBQ Rib with cooked until fall-off-the bone with a sweet and spicy Habanero Molasses BBQ Sauce. Do try the Mexican Corn Cones with Cotjia cheese and chili-lime butter.

John Mull’s Meats and Road Kill Grill

“Eatin good at John mulls"

I’m sure you, dear reader, like most people, would be wondering about the rather unusually named establishment. So first, let’s take a stroll down history lane: In 1954, it was originally a slaughterhouse and meat shop, where John Mull sold choice beef cuts and old school meat items like blood sausage and scrapple. In 1964, the store added a few more items like deer, elk and hog into the business. In 1981, the current owner Chuck Frommer took over the business, and transformed it to John Mull’s Meats and Road Kill Grill— a place where you can get good quality meats and barbecue.

John Mull’s Meats and Road Kill Grill is one of the best BBQ spots in Las Vegas, and has a huge, fiercely loyal clientele. Most of their grilled goodies are to go, but you can also enjoy the barbecue goodness right on the spot with some picnic style eating during for brunch, lunch and early dinner on their covered outdoor patio. Casual and fun place, where you get to plop down and chow down, just the way barbecue should be enjoyed—what more can you ask for?

John Mull’s Meats and Road Kill Grill crowd favorites are the five-bone rib, brisket, the pulled pork and rib tips. For those looking to grab a sandwich, go for the juicy Hot Links Sandwich, the Tri-Tip Sandwich and the Pulled Pork Sandwich. Pair it with must try sides of potato salad and the baked beans.

If you are looking for cowboys, karaoke, barbecue, booze, and line dancing, Gilley’s is the perfect place for you. This self-proclaimed "saloon and dance hall" has a mouthwatering menu full of authentic BBQ that you can smell and taste right after you enter its doors.

Gilley’s cooking techniques make sure that each piece of meat that comes out of its kitchens has the bark, pink ring, aroma, and juiciness that make a great and delicious barbecue. I would suggest that you try get Gilley’s Baby Back Ribs, the barbecue short ribs, or the grilled hot links. Other crowd pleasers include the green pork chili, the Fried Chicken and the ever-present-in-bbq-joints Pulled Pork Sandwich.

Pair them with some of Gilley’s lip-smacking sides, which are the home baked corned bread, mac and cheese, fluffy buttermilk whipped potatoes, and lastly, the collard greens cooked with a little bit of rum.

Cap your meal off with some hot apple biscuit bread pudding, or the luscious chocolate walnut brownie sundae.

When looking to satisfy your barbecue cravings, Gilley’s will surely not disappoint.

GangNam Asian BBQ Dining

GangNam Asian BBQ is a Korean and Japanese barbecue spot, where you can get your Korean grilled goodies and Japanese yakiniku cooked table top, Asian style, with bottles of soju or sake

Now you might be wondering why, out of all the Asian barbecue spots in Chinatown, Korea Town and other Asian hubs, would GangNam Asian BBQ make it into this list? Aside from the great vibe and whatever they marinade their meats in, GangNam Asian BBQ is one of the very few Asian barbecue spot that serves the good kind of certified Angus prime beef. And that, as all carnivores know, would count for a lot.

GangNam Asian BBQ’s best sellers are the kalbi (which is marinated short ribs), Kobe-style beef the daeji bulgogi (marinated pork in spicy sauce, sliced thin) and the Harami Miso (outside skirt steak).

GangNam Asian BBQ also offers combinations, where you can starters of your choice (we highly recommend the Tuna Poki or the Kobe Beef Carpaccio), along with side dishes of steamed rice, soups and noodles.

Off the grill, GangNam Asian BBQ serves great dishes like the Bibimbob (spicy beef with rice), Yookaejang (spicy beef soup with vegetables), a wide variety of ramens, tempura, kimchi pancakes and cold noodles. Considering that it’s in Las Vegas, GangNam’s prices are actually affordable, and they provide great service.

If you are looking for your grilled fix, Asian style, then head on over to GangNam Asian BBQ to satisfy those cravings. Portions are big, so be sure to bring family and friends to share the joy with.

Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que

“Only the best for dinner: 16 oz choice Angus bone-in ribeye steak, flame grilled to juicy perfection and topped with our signature steak butter.…”

I know what you are thinking: “Why would a food chain be included in the list of best BBQ joints in Las Vegas?”

A lot of food chains have earned a bad rep of not maintaining the great quality that they started with, but Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que is not one of them. Lucille Buchanan started young, learning how to make great BBQ from her grandmother by slow cooking it for hours on hickory wood, leaving the meat moist and succulent, and falling off the bone.

For your appetizer, you should get the BBQ Sausage Trio where you can try the house made spicy, smoked BBQ, and Bacon Cheddar hot links, all of which are flamed grilled to perfection. After you get you taste buds going, let’s go for the main event: I would suggest the St. Louis Spare Ribs, Texas Style Beef Brisket, or BBQ Tri Tip. Order everything, if you’re with a group.

Lucille’s also serves chicken and other dishes like their Big Easy BBQ Shrimps, or the Southern Fried Catfish and Shrimp. Portions here at Lucille’s are huge, family-portioned, and they serve gluten-free dishes, and even a kids menu for the little ones!

In any case, this kind of care and dedication—plus great barbequing techniques—puts Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que as one of the best BBQ spots in Las Vegas in my book.
