Niagara Falls isn't just for spring and summer! Here are twelve fantastic things to do at the Falls during this cold winter month.

This time of year is pretty chilly in the northern section of the United States, but that doesn't mean it's still not a happening place to be. Located on the border of the United States and Canada is a collection of some of the most majestic falls in the world. In these cold winter months you can find fun events and things to do going on in the New York side of Niagara and the Ontario side as well.

Starting January 7 and ending January 10, enjoy the music of Frankie Avalon and the Four Seasons in Jersey Nights at the Niagara Falls Theater in the Fallsview Casino Resort. On the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 12th, 13th, and 14th is a 3PM show. The 7th, 12th, 13th, and 14th will have an 8:30PM show. There will be a 9PM show on the 8th and 9th. Another show starts at 7PM on the 10th. Tickets can be purchased online starting at $25.

Taking place every Friday until January 29 at 9PM is this nighttime explosion of color in the sky. They are lit in conjunction with the Canadian Winter Festival of Lights.

Every Saturday from 7PM - 11PM, Legends Bar and Grille presents free live music from local musicians. Legends is located inside the Quality Hotel and Suites at the Falls. They serve a wide variety of food as well as 75 different beers from around the world.

This free exhibit opens January 10 and runs until February 14, Valentine's Day. It is open Monday - Friday 12PM - 5PM and Saturday and Sundays 2PM - 5PM. Norine Spurling was born in Bermuda and studied at the Moore College of Art in Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. After raising a family in California she became a lecturer in the art department at the University of Buffalo where she also received her bachelor and master's degrees.

The museum is open for free from 5PM - 9PM every Thursday night. Select Thursdays until March 24 they will be showing movies as part of their winter film series starting at 7PM. For the month of January the following movies will be presented: January 14, Chinatown and January 28, Water.

January 15 and 16, Donny Osmond will be performing three shows at the Fallsview Casino Resort on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. The January 15th concert is at 9PM, and the 16th is 3PM and 9PM. You can purchase tickets at the resort's box office, which opens noon on show days, or through Ticketmaster. Tickets start at $45.

January 15 kicks off three weekends of the 21st Annual Niagara Icewine Festival. They are here to celebrate one of Canada's most cherished products—Ontario ice wine. There will be Gala evening toasts, chestnut roasts, ice bars, ice skating, and winery tours.

Xerox Icewine Gala

The Gala will take place on January 15 in the Grand Halls at the Fallsview Casino Resort from 7PM - 10PM. Tickets can be purchased via phone or through the official website.

Discovery Pass

Owners of the pass can enjoy eight experiences per pass. They are eligible for all three weekends of the Icewine Festival. You can purchase them online, St. Catharines Ontario Travel Centre, Niagara Falls Ontario Travel Centre, Niagara Falls Tourism, and participating wineries. Each winery is $10 without the pass. The Discovery Pass is $40. Designated Drivers can get the Driver Discovery Pass for $30.

Taking place January 15-17 on the streets of Jordan Village is this winter celebration with lots of wine. From over 30 premium wines there will be over 100 VQA wines. VQA is the Vintners Quality Alliance a regulatory system for wines in British Columbia and Ontario. There will be special wine here not featured at any other event. Live music, fashion shows, food samplings, and winemaker challenges will take place. This event is free on the 16th and 17th. On Saturday, the event runs from 12PM - 10:30PM. The event runs from 12PM - 5PM on Sunday with The Abrams playing live. While run in celebration with the Icewine Festival, it is an independent event.

Opening Night Concert with Whitehorse

Main Stage, Jordan Village

Friday night, January 15, starting at 6:30PM, Whitehorse will open the Winefest with a concert on the Main Stage of Jordan Village. The local band, The Mandevilles, will open the show. Tickets are $25.

Cellar Speakeasy presented by 97.7 HTZ-FM

Cave Spring Barrel Cellar

Opening at 10:30PM after the concert is an open mic with local winemakers, growers, and chefs showing off their talent. Mic is open for everyone. Tickets cost $10 in advance and $15 at the door. There is a limited number!

Sweet. Sparkling. Sensation! Dinner at the Windows Room with Lynn Crawford

On The Twenty Windows Room

A five-course meal will be served along with Twenty Valley wines. The food is curated to match up with the wines. The event takes place in the Windows Room Inn at On The Twenty. Dinner starts at 6PM on the 16th and seating is limited. Tickets are $129 and do not include HST, Harmonized Sales Tax.

Similar to Friday night, after the fun, the doors at the Cave Spring Barrel Cellar open at 10:30PM to keep the party going.

Icewine Brunch at the Windows Room with Lynn Crawford

Chef Crawford cooks up a three course brunch paired with Twenty Valley Wines. Seating is limited. Tickets cost $75 not including HST.

Annual Spring Display

Starting January 16 and running through March, the Floral Showhouse will show off its annual spring display. No, that is not a typo. This is the spring display. The Floral Showhouse has been in existence for over 60 years. They have shows reflecting the changing of the seasons and the upcoming season they are showing off is spring.There will be orchids, tropical plants, and songbirds to prepare you for the next season. The Showhouse is open from 9:30AM to 5PM.Tickets are $5 for adults (anyone over age 13) and $3.75 for children (6-12 years). Children five and under are free. The last ticket is sold thirty minutes before closing.

Adam Graeme Comedy Stage Hypnosis Show

"One of the most original stage hypnotists of the 21st century," Adam Graeme comes to Niagara Falls for shows on January 29 and 30 at 8PM both nights. He transforms regular audience members using his hypnosis techniques. He is fully licensed. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online or at Druxy's Famous Deli in Niagara Falls.

World Rock Symphony Orchestra

From January 22 - 28, more than fifty stars come together to perform a collection of Britain's classic rock. The World Rock Symphony Orchestra is made up of a rock band consisting of three male and three female singers, a complete gospel choir, and a full orchestra with brass, string, and percussion. Together they will be performing some of your favorite classic rock songs. January 22 and 29 the show starts at 9PM. January 23 and 30, there will be a 3PM and a 9PM show. On the 24th the shows are at 3PM and 7PM. January 25 and 26 will only have a 3PM show and January 28 will see a 3PM and an 8:30PM show. Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased online or by phone.

Niagara Falls is a beautiful place to visit, even in the winter. The land surrounding the falls becomes half frozen. It's a sight! Experiencing this winter wonderland is worth the trip alone. Once you get here, that is not all you will want to do. As you can see here, there is plenty of entertainment to keep you having fun.
