Georgia wasn't previously famous for much but historical importance, but Savannah has recently become the fresh-faced idol of the drinking world. Hosting several beloved craft breweries and microbreweries, Savannah cannot be missed in a tour of America's finest spirits. We've compiled a list of some of the latest and greatest breweries Savannah, Georgia has to offer.

Southbound Brewing Company

Sip a Belgian-style winter beer or a smooth wheat brew at Southbound Brewing Company. Debuting in 2013, Southbound has become one of Georgia's premiere breweries and entertainment venues. You can book a private or public tour of their stills or participate in a tasting session with the Southbound staff during the day before attending one of their many live performances in the evening. Enjoy a frosty mug of Southbound's original Moondance ale or one of their six other labels of fine craft beer.

One of Savannah's first locally brewed beers, The Scattered Sun is one of Southbound Brewing Company's most in-demand beers. Almost unanimously, the local bars in Savannah demanded to have it on their shelves upon its arrival in 2013. You wouldn't want to miss sampling this smooth Georgia favorite.

Beware of their unusual hours: the brewery is closed on Tuesdays and Sundays, but has regular weekday hours of 5:30 AM to 7:30 PM. On Saturdays, they have a two-hour opening window of 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Moon River Brewing Company

In the mood for a tasty meal with your glass of craft brewed ale? Stop by Moon River Brewing Company to indulge in the flavor of Georgia within an idyllic beer garden. Enjoy authentic German cuisine such as Obatzda, a Bavarian cheese spread served alongside a hearty plate of pretzel sticks, or a wurst platter served with tangy mustard.

Order one of their several standard golden ales with either a German Pilsner malt — available in the Wild Wacky Wit or the Yoga Pants American Golden — or one of their many other fine European and American malts. They also offer a swathe of annual seasonal favorites such as the Duppy Conquerer — a refreshing ale with nuances of fruit and sugar — or the Taterlicious harvest ale.

The Moon River Brewing company also contains a pub where they serve delectable appetizers and salads alongside heartier meals such as dry-rub ribs and filet mignon. You can reserve a banquet table for a feast fit for a king — or a family gathering.

A bit of interesting trivia about Moon River Brewing Company is that, after the American Institute of Paranormal Psychology declared Savannah, Georgia the most haunted city in America, the Moon River brewery earned the distinguished position of "most haunted brewery".
