BRIC’s Celebrate Brooklyn! Dance Parties

The Celebrate Brooklyn! Event series started in 1979 to bring life back to Brooklyn’s Prospect Park after being cast away for many years. That same celebration has been extended to Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 1 and every year it attracts over 250,00 visitors to enjoy free performances with a variety of artists and some of New York’s most talented DJ’s that warm up the crowd. But don’t forget your dancing shoes! Some of these artists conduct free dance lessons prior to the show so you can dance to the beat during the show. All of this on a great lawn with amazing views of the Manhattan Skyline and the swaying ocean breeze.

Pier 1 can be accessed via the Brooklyn Waterfront on Old Fulton Street.

Shakespeare at Sunset

Every summer, Brooklyn Bridge Park recruits different theater houses to produce Shakespeare plays on the parks bridge view lawn. Enjoy the drama and modern day interpretations of this great poet as the NYC sunset commands your attention. There is no need for crimson curtains at this theater with the Manhattan skyline in plain view as well as the ever iconic statue of liberty. This event is free, all you need to bring is your favorite seat cushion or picnic blanket and a sweet summer drink to sip on.
