There is one other thing the city is known for. I guess every major city in America is coveted and notorious for this one. The shopping in Washington D.C. is fabulous. You’ll be able to buy something from every corner of the world without having to go to far from your hotel room. Your bank account may take a hit after a shopping spree in D.C. Not because the prices are outrageous, but you’ll just be buying so much stuff. Every penny is worth it, though.
Shops and stores are located all throughout the city, but today we’re going to be talking about a single historical district. That district is Georgetown. It’s famous for many things, and it has some of the city’s hottest spots for shopping.
Goorin Brothers Hat Shop
This hat shop is small, but that’s because it’s an outpost for a national chain. It offers hats across several varieties and styles, including selections for men, women, and children.
Stylish hats aren’t huge accessories to fashion anymore, but if you’re someone who loves to look good in classic garb, then Goorin has the best hats to go with any attire. They can make great gifts for a loved one or family member; so if you find yourself on business in D.C., then bring home some fantastic gifts for your family.
Hats can change the way a person feels, so feel a little more classy with a hat from Goorin.

Ladies, this one is for you. There’s nothing wrong with a man shopping in a store that primarily sells female attire. But sometimes women need a break from their male counterparts, so stores like Anthropologie fit the bill perfectly. The store itself is a cute little establishment that brings bright colors and happiness to the surrounding area. Found in between two brick buildings, the light pastel blue color scheme catches your eye immediately.
Head on inside and absorb the chic décor. Buy some of the best womenswear, shoes, accessories, and home décor in the city. If you loved Anthropologie so much but won’t be in D.C. for a long time, they have online shopping as well. So there’s no need to fret. Anthropologie can be enjoyed all around the world.

Not many people smoke any more, but there’s truly nothing like going into a tobacco shop. I’m not a fan of smoking or cigarette smoke in general, but some of the sweet smells you’ll find in a tobacco shop can be absolutely wonderful. Georgetown Tobacco will give you exactly that, and it’s been a neighborhood mainstay for many years.
The décor takes on the dark and rich colors of tobacco. Head on inside and peruse their quality products, and even ask their wonderful employees questions. If you can’t decide what to buy or want to know anything about the products, their employees are some of the most knowledgeable people to ask about tobacco. They’ll take care of you whether you’re just browsing or trying to find something to smoke.
Like I said, I know smoking isn’t very popular anymore. But this is still an establishment worth visiting. You’ll smell it down the block, and the décor itself is too enticing to pass up. Check them out during your visit to Georgetown.

Take it from the establishment’s name. Everything in this store is made well. Step inside and either buy something for you or buy a friend a special gift.
Mainly selling apparel for women, you can find everything you need to look good and glamorous on the street, at home, and out on the town. Shop everything from denim products to sweaters to swimwear to bags to jewelry. All their products are of the highest quality and have perfect prices. Madewell is a Georgetown shopping hotspot. Make sure to check them out during one of their fabulous sales, and save some money.
The establishment itself has a contemporary and homey feel to it. The polished wooden floors and brick walls let the bright colors of the products shine even brighter. Head on in and treat yourself to something special. Don’t spend too much money, though. There’s plenty of more shopping to do in the nation’s capital.

Here’s a store everyone can find something at. With everything available to men, women, and children, you’ll find yourself spending a lot more time than you thought you would. Not just because all the products are of the highest quality, but also because it’s a welcoming establishment with some of the nicest employees in the city.
The storefront might be made of brick that has been weathered over the years, but inside is a pristine and elegant clothes store. So don’t let the exterior fool you, you’ll be able to get some great shopping done here. The mellow colors, bright lights, and vaulted glass ceiling keep J. Crew’s charm and elegance close at hand. Enjoy this simple elegance while you peruse options like tank tops, coats, blazers, shorts, swimwear, jewelry, and wedding products.
You can also visit them online and do your shopping digitally. It’s a great way to get some quick shopping done over the holidays, so give their website a visit. You especially don’t want to miss the excellent sales they have going on throughout the year. Take a stroll through Georgetown and make you way over to J. Crew to get some shopping done.

Hu's Shoes Inc.
Just like J. Crew’s storefront, don’t let the exterior of Hu’s Shoes fool you. Inside is a pristine white décor that highlights all of their fabulous shoes. Sometimes shoe shopping is what we really want to do. Shoe shopping is different between men and women, but wanting a fresh pair of shoes is something everyone has in common.
Hu’s sells only female shoes, including many stylish and high-end selections. Take your time in here and admire the establishment itself. You might find yourself paying more attention to the gorgeous sweaters and dresses on their window manikins than on the shoes themselves. There’s no need to worry, though. There’s plenty of time to look at the main attraction, and trust me you’ll need a lot of time to look. With many styles of shoes and some bags to choose from, you’ll find yourself trying on multiple pairs until you find the perfect fit.
Keep an eye out for this contemporary-chic establishment and by yourself a great pair of heels to wear out on the town.

The Spice & Tea Exchange of Georgetown
Here’s a type of store that people usually do not associate with “big city shopping,” but it’s one of Georgetown’s hot spots. For you tea lovers out there, you do not want to miss out on some of the best spices and exotic teas in the world. Even if you’re not a tea drinker, this place is just like a tobacco shop, only a little healthier. The smells of the establishment can be smelled down the block, and once you head inside they are absolutely invigorating.
Tea is one of the main attractions, but they sell a lot more than that. Their sugars, peppers, salts, spices, olive oils, and extracts keep the diversity and the shopping alive and thriving. Their best sellers are the Tuscany spice blend, Backwoods hickory rub, and black truffle sea salt. From the names of those products, you can already sense the variety of products Spice & Tea has to offer.
The smells will really keep you from just walking by, so head on in as a spectator and/or a buyer and be helped by their wonderful service. You should also check out their website, where many of their recipes for rubs, appetizers, beverages, entrees, and desserts can be found. On a side note, the recipe for caramel apple pork chops is amazing. Try it the next time you can. I’ll link the recipe below.

Georgetown has a lot of restaurants, a lot of history, and a lot of shopping to do. Check out the famous Georgetown cupcakes, the immaculate Georgetown University, or the views from across the Potomac River, and then head out to do some shopping around the cobblestoned district. With stores that hit a wide variety of products and styles, you can make a whole trip just by shopping in Georgetown. Some of my friends have done it, and they do not regret any penny they spent.
Visit Washington D.C. for any reason you want. If it’s for the museums, monuments, sights, nightlife, or theaters, that’s perfectly fine. But you can’t leave without visiting Georgetown and doing some shopping. Visit all of the establishments in the historic districts, but make sure to visit the locations I talked about today.
