Savannah’s City Market has been the city’s main commercial trading center since the early 1700s. Farmers and traders alike would sell their wares here, including fresh produce, clothes, the newest products and even second hand items.

Today, the city market spans over four blocks, and is a must-visit when you’re in Savannah. You will find a multitude of things to do in this charming marketplace—to shop, visit art galleries, listen to music or just strolling around. After a day of wandering, wine and dine at some of the best restaurants you will find at Savannah’s City Market.

Belford’s Savannah Seafood and Steaks

Serving brunch, lunch and dinner, whether you’re craving for a tender, juicy steak or the freshest seafood catch, a fresh plate of pasta, or just cocktails, Belford’s offers the best fine dining in Savannah.

Belford’s Savannah has a long history—this family-owned fine dining restaurant was once a wholesale food company back in the 1900s. The brick building was built at the turn-of-the-century, in 1902.

Belford’s the restaurant opened in 1997, and since then, it has won numerous awards over the years in the annual Taste of Savannah contest that is judged by the Southern Living Magazine, and commended by other major publications such as Bon Appetit, Conde Nast Traveler, and even The New York Times. It’s no surprise, really, with Belford’s excellent food.

If you’re craving steak for dinner, try the Black Angus Filet Mignon served with roasted garlic whipped potatoes. The Crab Linguine with arugula and a chardonnay citrus butter sauce is an excellent choice for pasta.

The bar offers an extensive variety of wines. Ask the wine master for help with pairings.

Wild Wing Cafe

Wild Wing Café is one of the liveliest places in the market area, so it’s quite impossible to miss it. Every day, live entertainment is featured both indoors and outdoors—mostly live acoustic music that contribute to its fun but relaxing vibe. The restaurant also boasts several large TV sets, which easily converts the place into a sports bar of sorts where guys hang out with cold beer and hot wings when there is a game.

This chain restaurant has an extensive list of craft beers, both local and around the globe, and serves the some of the best wings in the city. Bestsellers are the spicy Jalapeno Cheddar Wings that find a lovely companion with their cheese waffle fries, and the Bleu Chicken Wings with extra blue cheese. The wings are plump and juicy, unlike the skimpy chicken wings served in so many places nowadays.

Cocktails are served too—I highly recommend a Spicy Bloody Mary, or the sweet Peach Sangria that goes practically with everything.
