The Mission

The Mission restaurant serves both great Latin American food, and also some of the best classic American breakfast dishes in town. What's great about this University Avenue spot is the dishes are truly superb, and the huge portions are as generous as it gets.

I suggest you be adventurous when eating here, and try new things. All of the dishes in the menu are great, but if you will ask me what to get, I highly suggest you get the Rancheros Verdes (instead of the usual tomato sauce, this dish is cooked with green salsa), the meat-ilicious Roast Beef Hash, or the Chicken Apple Sausage (this savory dish with the slight sweet, tangy apple taste is amazing!) and Eggs. If you like rosemary, then order the Mission Rosemary (which includes scrambled eggs, potatoes cooked with rosemary, and topped with tomato and scallion, served with rosemary bread.) Vegetarians will appreciate the Plato Verde con Huevos, and for something sweet, there's the yummy Granola Banana Pancakes.

My personal favorite, however, is the Papas Con Chorizo, which is a mouthwatering dish with "rosemary potatoes, grilled jalapeños, black beans, cheese, avocado slice and soy chorizo topped with chipotle cream."

If ever you are coming to The Mission for breakfast, please do come early because this place can get filled up real quick, but if you ever meet with a line, don't just leave: the wait is worth it, I kid you not. Besides, it's better than your usual bowl of milk and cereals, and healthier too. The Mission Restaurant is truly a great joint to fill your tummy with great food to start your day right.
