Brunch in Buckhead: Where to Find Awesome Eats in Atlanta
A primer on some of the finest brunch restaurants in Atlanta’s most stylish neighborhood.
Buckhead is the definitive shopping Mecca for the fashion savvy consumers not only in Atlanta but for the whole of Georgia. It is the home of two of the biggest upscale malls in this southeastern State, the Phipps Plaza and the Lenox Square. It also encompasses a posh eight-block retail complex called The Shop Buckhead Atlanta.
Interspersed with the high-end boutiques and concept stores in the district is a gamut of great restaurants serving diverse cuisines. This list, however, will just focus on the lot who serve sunshine on a plate with their superb morning to noontime dishes.
1. Buttermilk Kitchen
I thought we should start with the classic breakfast flavors of the south. Buttermilk Kitchen serves one of the best chicken-on-a-biscuit dishes that people rave about. It is served with pimiento cheese grits and house made pickles. They also whip up delicious buttermilk pancakes and biscuits that are truly worthy of their name. These dishes are best enjoyed with a side of eggs cooked any style you want and with bacon, sausage, or both.
Another must-try dish here is grits & eggs with tomato marmalade. Or you may opt to try their omelet or their scrambled eggs. Any of these dishes are served with a side of your choice. There are additional dishes that they offer on top of their regular breakfast menu on Saturdays and Sundays, such as sweet potato pancakes, pork belly & eggs, and leftover turkey sandwich.

2. Another Broken Egg Café
This restaurant serves delightful specialty brunches such as their signature Southern Crab Stack and reinterpreted standards such as huevos rancheros and shrimp & grits. Another Broken Egg Café (ABEC) offers several variations for almost all of the popular breakfast dishes. Their Signature Benedicts alone have 6 variants – one being the classic with grilled ham, another one made with crab cake, one with grilled flat iron steak, and three more alternatives to savor.
Popular meal starters here, which are great for sharing, include biscuit beignets and fried green tomatoes. As for omelets, they can whip up eight delectable variations such as lobster & brie and veggie delight. They also serve a wide selection of specialty burgers and other well-crafted sandwiches such as their signature King Edward Club and lobster & shrimp roll sliders. ABEC also offer healthier breakfast options such as granola, fruit & quinoa, and skinny omelet, plus an assortment of delicious and nutritious salad creations.

3. Joy Café
This restaurant is celebrated for their contemporary and innovative take on traditional southern cuisine and classic European cookery. Joy Café serves brunch specialties until 3pm that includes heirloom southern recipes such as biscuit & sawmill gravy and Mama Carol’s buttermilk pancakes. Their chef’s signature brunch dish is Joy’s Big Berry Belgian Waffles, which is among the bestsellers. If you fancy a more savory morning meal, you should try their eggs benedict or the crab cake benedict. Other well-liked options are their breakfast burrito or sandwich and their steak & eggs taco.
Just right before noon, additional dishes are made available until closing time. This includes chicken burgers and beef burgers and a superb menu of delicious sandwiches. Among the diners’ favorites are Joy’s famous pastrami Reuben, classic Cuban, and Maryland style crab cake sandwich. Joy Café also has a wonderful selection of salad and side dishes.

4. Egg Harbor Café
The recently hatched Egg Harbor Café (EHC) in Brookwood Marketplace Buckhead ATL instantly became a hit in the neighborhood. It is actually the third branch in Georgia and the latest among its 18 locations for this family café that started in Chicago 30 years ago. As their name implies, they serve one of America’s staple breakfast ingredient in several delightful ways. They offer international flavors of egg entrees such as the Mexican style chorizo chilaquiles, the southern American Georgia cheese grits & eggs, and the traditional Swedish breakfast treat, the Geneva Rosti.
EHC serves three variations of the classic eggs benedict – the Barrington, the Farmers’ Market, and the Bavarian. They also have a great menu for Scramblers and Skillets dishes, as well as mouthwatering omelets, frittatas, and savory crepes. Other notable line-ups in their menu are gourmet griddle items and ‘healthy option’ dishes. Some of the most talked about platters in these categories are the banana bread french toast, the harbor signature pancakes, the berry-ola oatmeal, and their special Autumn in Italy French Toast.
