Where To Find The Best Food At Universal Studios

A visit to Universal Studios is not just about the attractions - you will want to enjoy some great food too!

There are many choices of places to eat at Universal Studios. We think that the best places to eat are outside the theme park at Universal CityWalk. There are many places to eat inside Universal Studios but we suggest that if you want the best food then you visit the theme park and then at the end of the day choose one of the CityWalk restaurants. Here is our top pick of our favorites.

Hard Rock Cafe

The Hard Rock Cafe is located in Universal City Walk and is an excellent choice if you want some traditional American food in a fun setting. Kids and grown ups alike will love the rock memorabilia which is displayed on the walls of this restaurant.

You know as soon as you approach this restaurant that there is something good inside—you really can't ignore the giant illuminated guitar outside. The atmosphere inside, as you might expect, is loud. But the service is friendly and the menu has many traditional American food choices. Pizzas, salads and burgers are available. Entrees include New York Strip, Fried Shrimp Platter and Twisted Mac, Chicken and Cheese.

If you have a craving for something sweet you will find it difficult to resist the Hot Fudge Brownie or the Chocolate Molten Cake.

If you want some merchandise there is a Hard Rock Cafe store on site.

Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood at Universal CityWalk is the place to enjoy bold flavors, live music, and fantastic handmade cocktails.

Camacho's Cantina

Camacho's Cantina at Universal CityWalk is the place to be if you want great tasting Mexican food in a lively atmosphere. It is slightly difficult to find—just follow the signs!

Your dining experience will start with complimentary chips and salsa—always a nice touch. You might want to add the Table Side Guacamole or Caesar Salad. They are freshly made and very tasty.

There are all the usual favorites that you would expect on a Mexican restaurant menu. Prices are on the high side for the quality of the food but of course you are paying for the location and the atmosphere. Choices include Carne Asada $19.99, Shrimp Taquitos $12.75, Chile Colorado $15.50 and Grilled Chicken Fajitas $15.75.

There is a large selection of cocktails, wine and beer. As this is a Mexican restaurant you really have to try one of the Margaritas. Why not try something a little different like the Cucumber Margarita fresh cucumber and lime juice with zavaño tequila and sweet and sour, or Tamarind Margarita zavaño tequila with tamarind and orange juice, served shaken on the rocks with a spicy rim both at $12.50?

Karl Strauss Brewing Company

Karl Strauss Brewery is another great choice in Universal City Walk. It has it's own micro brewery and features West Coast influenced pub fare food.

The menu has something to suit everyone as it has a wide variety of choices. Appetizers include Black Garlic Fondue, Buffalo Wings, Squid Pro Quo and Chilli Lime Fries. There is also a good choice of salads including Chopped Cashew Chicken, Mixed Organic and Seared Ahi.

Burgers and sandwiches are available priced from $10.50 to $15.95. There is also an El Jardin burger available for vegetarians.

An interesting choice is Mac On Tap with a choice of four flavors as a twist on the traditional macaroni and cheese. Try the Tree Hugger which is broccoli, spinach, roasted red peppers for $15.50 or the Piggie Bank beer-brined bacon, Black Forest ham, Andouille for $16.95.

If you are a fan of craft beer you will enjoy Karl Strauss restaurant. A popular choice is the beer tasting flight. There is also a full service bar with 10 beers on tap.

Samba Brazillian Steakhouse and Lounge

The Samba Brazilian Steakhouse and Lounge is the place to be if you enjoy great meat dishes. This restaurant has a very lively atmosphere—you may even want to join in with the carnival and experience the conga line!

The concept of this restaurant is all you can eat style. Enjoy an All You Can Eat Meat Bar Salad and Hot Bar for $49. They do not leave out the vegetarians and there is an all you can eat option for them for just $19.

Servers walk through the restaurant and serve you with cuts of Beef, Chicken, Pork, Lamb, Fish and Sausage. Diners can also have as many trips to the salad and hot bar as they want.
