5 Unforgettable Things to do at Universal Studios
Here are the best things to do in Universal Studios Hollywood
Universal Studios is a magical place with so much to do. You’ll want to check out as many rides and shows as you can. If you want to make the most of your time at the park, you’ll want to know what the top attractions are. Here are a few things you won’t want to miss during your time at Universal Studios.
1. Go on the Studio Tour
If you’re passionate about television and film, you won’t want to miss this tour. Universal Studios Hollywood is better than the other Universal Parks in this regard because its studio tour takes you around real television and film sets. Ride along with Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon as he introduces each sight on the monitors located in the tram. Some of the things you can see on the tour include Wisteria Lane from Desperate Housewives, the plane crash from War of the Worlds, the Bates Motel from Psycho, and a King Kong 3D show. There’s even a new ending to the tour called Fast and Furious Supercharged, which will put you right into the middle of the high speed action. The Universal Studio Tour is included with your entrance ticket and is an informational behind the scenes look at the shows you love.
2. VIP Experience
The VIP Experience is the best way to get the most out of Universal Studios Hollywood. It’s more expensive than your typical entrance ticket price, but you get a lot of added bonuses. Start your day with a breakfast provided by the VIP Experience in the VIP lounge. You’ll get to go back to the lounge for a lunch created by Universal’s chef. For your back lot tour, you’ll get to ride in a special tram that takes you beyond the basic tour and into sets that are closed off to the general public. Then you’ll get to walk around the props warehouse. This is perfect for the biggest film buffs. You will be led throughout the day by your own tour guide who will give you additional information about the park and the inside scoop on shows and films. When you’re ready to go on the rides, your tour guide will escort you to the front of the line. With a starting price of $299 a person, it’s not for everyone, but if you want the best Universal Studios experience, you won’t want to miss out on the VIP Experience.
3. Check Out the CityWalk at Night
After your day at the park, check out the food and entertainment at CityWalk. Enjoy casual dining with a wide selection of cuisines at a familiar restaurant like Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., or Hard Rock Café. If you want to eat quickly, there are also many fast food restaurants on site. Afterwards, do some shopping, go bowling, or go to a night club. If you’re feeling adventurous, there is indoor skydiving available. CityWalk is great at night with all of the bright lights, but if you go during the day, there is a chance you can see a live taping of the show Extra. Watch the hosts talk about the newest in entertainment news, and if you’re lucky, you might spot a celebrity.
4. Catch a Show in the Park
WaterWorld is the most popular show in the park. It is a show that lets you see how water special effects and stunts are done in movies. Watch stunt actors do jumps on jet skis and huge explosions. Special Effects Stage is a show that makes CGI come to life. You’ll get a first hand look at how motion capture and 3D is made. Finally, see the Universal’s Animal Actors show. These animals perform amazing stunts and tricks. There’s even a chance you’ll be able to join the animals on stage, too!
5. Ride the Rides
Of course, if you go to Universal Studios Hollywood, you’ll want to go on the rides. Even if you have never watched an episode of The Simpsons, you’ll love this ride. The seats tilt and shake, but you’ll feel like you’re in a rollercoaster because of how realistic the 3D screen is. The Jurassic Park ride is a classic among the Universal Studios parks. The raft ride is perfect for a hot day. If you are visiting with young children, they will love the new Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride. It’s a 3D ride that will take you through Gru’s laboratory. After the ride, check out Super Silly Fun Land, inspired by the film. In the spring of 2016, one of the biggest attractions from Universal will arrive in Hollywood: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Once this attraction opens, it will be very busy, so make sure you arrive to the park early to be the first in line.
Since there are so many great things to do at Universal Studios Hollywood, you’ll want to consider buying Fast Pass tickets or even staying at one of Universal’s luxurious resorts. You’ll have so much fun, you’ll never want to leave!
