5 Walt Disney World Resorts that will Keep the Whole Family Happy

Whether you are on a budget or looking for luxury, and no matter what size your family is, you can find the perfect lodging at the Walt Disney World Resort.

There are so many resorts on Walt Disney World property that choosing just one can seem like an impossible task. Don’t let your stress over Disney lodging ruin your upcoming vacation! Choosing the perfect hotel for you and your family does not have to be that difficult, and you should have no trouble picking the perfect place to stay for any budget. Read on to learn all about how to choose a Walt Disney World resort to meet all of your family’s needs.

Disney’s Pop Century Resort

For families traveling to Walt Disney World on a budget, nothing beats a stay in Disney’s Pop Century Resort. This resort is designed like a motel, with all of the hallways and access to rooms on the outside of the building, but it nevertheless has that magical Disney touch that makes all of the resorts at Walt Disney World feel special. If you are traveling with a group, it is possible to book rooms together, just like in a standard motel. And if you are a smaller family, a single room is plenty to give you a taste of Disney style without having to go over your budget.

The Pop Century Resort has four sections, each of which is themed after a different decade from the 1950s to the 1990s. The rooms and hallways in each section are decked out with items from their respective time periods, and there are three pools on-site, each with a different related theme as well (a 1950s bowling pool, a 1960s flower power pool, and a 1990s computer pool). Kids are sure to love playing in the recreation areas at this affordable resort, and adults will love the cash bars and lounge areas that are never too far away!

All of the rooms at Pop Century can come with either two double beds or one king bed. Rollaway cots are available at an additional cost, so if you have one extra child you can still make room easily! Pop Century is one of Disney’s budget hotels, which means that the amenities may not be quite as elaborate as some of the others, but when you’re caught up in the fun of a Disney vacation, you’ll hardly even notice.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Disney’s newest hotel, the Art of Animation Resort, is a perfect place for families to relax after a long day of theme park exploration. This hotel offers mid-range rooms as well as budget options to cater to every family’s need. Like the Pop Century Resort, the rooms at Art of Animation are accessed via outside entrances, motel-style, and each of the four buildings features a different theme. Because of the many family suites available at this hotel, it is an excellent choice for larger families looking to stay together.

The theme at the Art of Animation Resort is simple: movies! The four sections focus on Disney and Disney-Pixar films that have been popular throughout the years, including Cars, Finding Nemo, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid. This hotel is also home to a Finding Nemo themed pool, which happens to be the biggest pool on Disney property. The kids in your family will love splashing around in this massive pool or enjoying an interactive play area nearby that is tailored toward the younger ones.

If you want to stay in the Art of Animation Resort on a budget, the Little Mermaid rooms are more or less the same as the rooms at Pop Century and run around the same price. If, however, you are looking for a larger family suite, the other three sections of the hotel can accommodate you. Family suites include one queen bed, one double bed, and one double sleeper sofa, and can easily sleep up to 6 (or more, depending on how young some of the kids in your group are). These rooms cost quite a lot more than their standard counterparts, but they are still at the lower end of a suite budget for a Disney hotel.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

If your family loves the outdoors, check out Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort to bring your hobby along on vacation! Fort Wilderness combines the great outdoors with Disney magic to create a resort that is designed to look like an old fashioned lodge at a National Park. There are a few different lodging options available at Fort Wilderness, and depending on your budget and the size of your family, you can easily find the perfect solution to keep everyone happy when you book your stay here.

The lodge itself, Wilderness Lodge, is fitted with an elaborate fireplace and a beautiful outdoor pool that will instantly make you think you are relaxing in the woods instead of in the heart of a theme park. This hotel is one of the more expensive options at Walt Disney World, but it has a few good choices for smaller families. If you are traveling as part of a large group, or if your smaller family loves to camp, consider renting a spot at the adjacent Fort Wilderness Campground. Campsites are available for any size, from a small pop-up tent to a 45-foot RV, and up to ten guests are allowed per campsite. If you are bringing the entire family along, you can even reserve two joining campsites and have enough space for twenty people at a fraction of the cost of a hotel room.

If you prefer to stay in the Lodge, you have a few room options available. The standard rooms include two queen beds or one king bed, much like the more affordable rooms on Disney property. However, you can upgrade to a room with one queen bed and one pair of twin size bunk beds, which is sure to please the kids and make them feel like they are on a real wilderness expedition. At the Campsites, the cheapest option is of course the tent site, but even a premium RV spot nestled in the woods is affordable for a large group.

Kids will never get enough of the awe-inspiring sights and sounds of this exquisite hotel, and adults will enjoy the award-winning restaurants located within its walls. Of course, everyone is bound to love the large pool with a waterslide and kiddie play area!

Located adjacent to the Lodge itself is the Kidani Village, home to the Animal Kingdom Villas. This hotel also provides a view of the animals at the theme park, and it is a great choice if you are traveling with a larger group and need more space to spread out. Rooms at the Animal Kingdom Lodge can include two queen beds, one queen bed and a pair of twin bunk beds, or one king bed and a twin day bed. At Kidani Village, the villas can come with one king bed, one queen sleeper sofa, and one twin sleeper chair; one king bed, two queen beds, a sleeper sofa and a sleeper chair; or one queen bed and one sleeper sofa. In both locations, rooms with a view cost significantly more.

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort

At first glance, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort may seem like more of an adult getaway, with its early Victorian style and its on-site golf courses and spa. Don’t neglect it as a great place for a family getaway, however! The resort is home to two pools, one of which features a long waterslide for adults and two kid-sized waterslides as well for hours of fun in the sun. And, as an added bonus, Saratoga Springs is one of the closest hotels to the Disney Springs shopping area (previously known as Downtown Disney), and you can take a small boat ride from the hotel property right to the main entrance.

The smallest, studio rooms feature one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa, so a family of three or four can stay in these affordable rooms easily. And if an adult member of your family loves to golf, these are a great choice, as the majority of the standard rooms overlook the fairways at the nearby golf course! As with any Disney resort hotel, transportation to all Disney parks is included in the cost of your stay, so everyone is sure to be pleased with a room at Saratoga Springs—even those who aren’t avid golfers.

Choose a Treehouse Villa for the epitome of comfort, style, and Disney magic at the Lodge. These rooms include two queen beds, a twin bunk bed, a twin sleep chair, and a queen size sleeper sofa, along with beautiful views of the treetops. They do come with a hefty price tag, so check out the cost before you book! Depending on the time of year when you visit, you may get a deal on the Treehouse Villa rooms.

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort is located at 1960 Broadway in Lake Buena Vista.
