Two Breweries in Orlando You Shouldn’t Miss!

If you love craft beer, you're sure to enjoy the incredible local brews available at two of Orlando's best breweries.

Orlando is a great place to try local beers. Although there are not a ton of breweries in the area, there are a handful, and you should definitely take time out of your Orlando vacation to visit at least a couple of them. These are the cream of the beer crop, and a visit to one or both of these breweries is sure to leave you feeling satisfied. Get ready to soak up some local flavor in the best possible way with a visit to Orlando’s top two don’t-miss breweries!

Orlando Brewing

Begin your Orlando brewery experience with a visit to the most well-known of all of the area breweries. Orlando Brewing has come a long way since its humble beginnings at the start of the 21st century, and in the relatively short amount of time it has been open, it has become a staple in the lives of many central Florida residents. This brewery was founded by friends with the concept of producing the kinds of beers they wanted to drink, rather than focusing specifically on what might make the most in sales. Although some of their flavors might be a little uncommon, Orlando Brewing is always committed to producing a high quality drink that is sure to please.

Orlando Brewing was made famous by its Blonde Ale, and this is a great place to start when sampling beers at this brewery. This beer is light, fun, and dry, making it perfect for those hot summer afternoons in Florida. For a slightly sweet, mid-range alternative, try the Right On Red Ale, with hints of caramel and a slightly sturdier flavor. Of course, when in Orlando, you may want to try a beer with a citrus flavor. If so, opt for the Miami Weiss, a wheat beer made with vanilla and citrus flavors, or choose the Organic Grapefruit Pale Ale, made with Citra hops and fresh local grapefruit zest.

Orlando Brewing offers free first come, first served tours at 6:00pm Mondays through Saturdays, excluding the 30th of each month. If you can’t make it for a tour, stop by to order drinks in the taproom Monday through Thursday from 3:00pm to 10:00pm, Friday and Saturday from 1:00pm to midnight, and Sunday from 1:00pm to 9:00pm.

Orlando Brewing is located at 1301 Atlanta Avenue in Orlando.

Crooked Can Brewing Company

Head a little off the beaten path to discover Crooked Can Brewing Company, on the outskirts of town in the Winter Garden district. This brewery is new to the scene, but it is already making big waves with central Florida locals who have fallen in love with its incredible flavors. The Crooked Can was founded in the interest of free spirits and a shared passion for craft beers, and it is located in one of the most unique downtown historical districts in the Orlando area. The symbol of the Crooked Can Brewing Company (a man in a suit with a bowler hat who is walking with a lot of swagger) represents this company’s dedication to that relaxed weekend vibe only a great craft beer can provide.

Try the Belgian Golden Strong Ale at Crooked Can to really see what all the fuss is about. This award-winning brew is slightly fruity, very spicy, and perfectly smooth from start to finish, and it is a great way to begin your tasting tour of this local brewery. If you prefer a more traditional German style lager, reach for the Mr. Tractor Ale, which is a sturdy, slightly bitter brew sure to quench any thirst. Depending on the time of year when you visit, you may also have the chance to sample a seasonal or limited edition beer. If you are in the area during the fall, try the pineapple hard cider! And of course, a visit to Crooked Can Brewing Company would not be complete without trying the Axum Chocolate Coffee Stout, which is brewed with cocoa nibs and coffee beans from Axum Coffee, another Winter Garden local company.

There are plenty of events that take place throughout the week at Crooked Can, so consider stopping by during one of them to really make the most out of your drip. Visit on a Tuesday night for Trivia Night, or stop by on a Saturday for a yoga class right outside the walls of this brewery. Fridays and Saturdays also play host to live music from the area, and of course, you can always take a tour of the brewery as well. If you want to take a group tour, visit between noon and 4:00pm on a Sunday, and if you prefer taking a private tour, call ahead to reserve a time slot.

Crooked Can Brewing Company is located at 426 West Plant Street in Winter Garden.
