Where to go in Las Vegas: 5 Travel Tips

Read on to find out the must see attractions Las Vegas has to offer and how to make your stay here easier.

When you hear Las Vegas, normally one activity comes to mind and that's gambling. Movies advertise it as a place filled with casinos, nightclubs, fine dining, and spontaneous marriages. After all, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. The city is filled with casinos, museums, entertainment centers, and restaurants. Take a long, leisurely stroll on The Strip, watch a free water show at the Bellagio Fountains, ride the highest ferris wheel in the world, and travel all over the city using the Las Vegas Monorail. Whatever you’re looking for, there’s something here for everybody. There are so many places to see and it would be a shame to miss out on any of them. Read on to find out the must see attractions Las Vegas has to offer and how to make your stay here better.

1. The Strip

There is no other place in Las Vegas as prominent as The Strip. This is where everything in the city happens. It’s filled with casinos, hotels, entertainment centers, museums, and restaurants. The activities to do in this 4.2 mile street are endless. The most popular activity of course is gambling. The popular casinos are Caesar's Palace, the Bellagio, The MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, and The Luxor Hotel & Casino. Take note though that you don’t have to spend a lot of cash in order to have a good time. There are many places to go here that are cost little to no money. You can head over to the Bellagio fountains to enjoy a free water show, watch at volcano erupt at The Mirage, go hiking and enjoy the beauty of nature at Red Rock Canyon, and explore the different restaurants found all over The Strip.

2. Ride a Gondola at the Venetian

Have you ever wanted to experience riding a Gondola while riding through the river in Italy? You can have that same experience at the Venetian hotel-casino. Sit back and relax while listening to the calming sounds of the water, appreciate the beautiful voice of your gondolier, and participate in the tradition of kissing under the bridge for good luck. It’s a very romantic experience and a perfect bonding activity for couples. If you’d like to save a few bucks, you can share the gondola with another couple. It costs $18.95 per person but kids who are 2 years old and younger are free. You can also opt to rent a 2 passenger gondola ride for $75.80. You can schedule your reservations at the Emporio D’Gondola found inside Grand Canal Shoppes.

3. High Roller Ferris Wheel on the LINQ

Head over to the LINQ’s entertainment promenade and you’ll find yourself in front of the world’s tallest ferris wheel. There is no better place to enjoy the view of The Strip than here. It stands at a whooping 550 feet and takes 30 minutes each round. Each spherical cabin is enclosed with glass and can seat up to 40 people. There are benches on each side if you get tired from standing. Go here to cross off going to the largest ferris wheel in the world from your bucket list and make some once in a lifetime memories.

4. Las Vegas Monorail

Taking a cab everywhere is expensive and you can’t walk all over the city. Luckily, Las Vegas has its own trams and monorails to make travelling easier for the people. A train will arrive for you every 7 minutes and it’s open till 2am on weekdays (Monday-Thursday) and 3am on weekends (Friday-Sunday). Planning on staying for more than 2 days? To help save you a couple of bucks, I recommend buying a 3-day pass as it is more practical.

5. Sunrise Coffee

I won’t just limit this list to common tourist attractions. You should spend time looking at the different restaurants found all over the city. One of these is Sunrise Coffee. It’s a vegan coffee shop and they serve some of the most delicious coffee and pastries in Las Vegas. Their menu is meat free and you have many dishes and drinks to choose from. If you’re familiar with Harry Potter (and who isn’t?), then you’ve heard of Butterbeer. They sell it here and it’s best served cold rather than as a hot latte. Another must try drink is the Pumpkin Spice Latte. If you’re looking for something healthy to munch on, the Alien Burrito is amazing. It’s made with avocado, spinach, couscous, cheese, red bell pepper, and beans ranch all inside one yummy tomato tortilla. They also have smore bites, vegan muffins, brownies, and other wraps and sandwiches. It’s good to just sit back and relax after touring all the different attractions in town.
