Miami Shopping: 7 Places to Browse, Buy, and Blow Your Budget
Whether you're looking for upscale shopping or a great deal, this article will help you to sort out some of the different Miami shopping areas.
The population-dense city of Miami is widely known as a place of fun, sun, and its great bay views along the ocean. And if you are looking for some great places to shop, look no further, Miami is your place for that too. Boasting some of the largest malls in the country, Miami is sure to hold whatever it is that you are seeking, whether it be ultra-designer stores, the likes of which you would only find in Rome or Paris, or the everyday staple stores you can't live without. Either way, each of these shopping areas has its own unique features with its own distinct Miami flavor.
Many of these malls will also go all out for Christmas with fabulous light displays, nostalgic indoor decorations, and Santa sightings, helping you to feel the excitement of the season. Many of these have awesome Black-Friday deals and if you take a walk through the stores after Christmas you will find it is a great time to find amazing deals and deep discounts.
So, without more delay, here are some of the amazing places to think of when you are looking to shop!
Miami Design District
So you would love to go to Rome or Paris because of the high-end fashion you know you would find there, but travel won't work out for you just now? Well, thankfully, you're in luck! The Miami Design District is about as close as you will get to such fashion this side of the ocean. With high-end stores such as Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Piaget, Prada, and Versace, you will not be left without amazing choices of designer clothing, and you will feel like you just stepped out of a Paris store.
The Miami Design District tends to be one that is a little calmer and quieter than some other Miami malls that tend to have a wilder nightlife. Also, if you're an artist, or even if you just enjoy art, you should enjoy the layout of this mall as there are pieces of unique artwork and sculptures to look at that are disbursed throughout the mall zone.

Lincoln Road Mall
The Lincoln Road Mall is an outdoor mall that is located right along South Beach, which makes it the best of both worlds and will allow you to catch some waves and sun as well as to feed your passion for fashion. And it's a great place to bring friends if you are wanting somewhere to go later at night as it is open until 11pm most days and all the way until 12am on Fridays and Saturdays.
If you prefer ultra high-end shopping, the Miami Design District is likely to be your place of choice, but if you don't prefer the pricey, you might want to give this mall a try. While the Lincoln Road Mall does have some high-end stores, they also have many stores where you can buy clothing or other merchandise for a much more modest price, stores such as H&M, Aldo Shoes, Adidas, and even Payless ShoeSource. At the Lincoln Road Mall, you are sure to find more options in your target price range.
They have lots of sidewalk cafes outdoors and it can be quite refreshing to sit along the side of the fountain pools and greenery, sip a cool drink, and do a little people-watching as this place is sometimes voted as the best place for just that.

Miracle Mile and Downtown Coral Gables
Miracle Mile is a place where the stores abound. Just take a peek at the directory on their website to see what I mean! Many of the stores here are probably not ones you have heard of before, but you will find that there are so many great choices for whatever you might be looking for.
One thing this area is known for is bridal stores and supplies. If you have an upcoming wedding, look no further, your stop is here and that dream gown awaits!
This area can get quite crowded but has a relatively safe feel to it. The restaurants are luxurious and high-end, so make sure you are wearing something a little nicer than you may be used to wearing if you know you will be dining, so as not to feel out of place.
Parking can be a little hard to find here, but thankfully, relatively cheap. You can get a meter for $1.25 an hour or park in the parking garage for anywhere from $1 - $3 an hour.

Located in a Northern suburb of Miami, the Aventura Mall boasts itself as the third largest mall in the country, and unlike some of those listed above, is an indoor mall. So rain or shine, there will be no problem visiting this place at any time of year.
Around Christmas, this area can be somewhat of a maze with all of the people who also love to shop there, but they have train rides for the kids and photos with Santa and really make sure to give it a holiday feel with their fabulous indoor Twinkling Snowfall display. You might now even mind the crowds with all the cheer being spread around. This display will make you feel as though you are in a Winter Wonderland as you look up.
At night, the mall is lit with thousands of white Christmas lights and shining snowflakes. They also have Topiary Reindeer Displays where the family can sit on a bench next to some enlarged green reindeer and get a great picture that will boost your holiday photos to a new level.
There are numerous fountains and even a nice playground for young children, so this is sure to please all ages of your group, and will make it easy if you are tag-team shopping with another adult while the other one watches the kids. The movie theater will also give you a nice little break when the younger ones are feeling a little shopped-out.
Although some of the stores can be quite pricey, there are also your usual department stores such as Macy's, J.C. Penney, Sears, and Nordstroms, so the price point is directly in your command.

While this mall has slimmer pickings then some of the other malls listed here, many people flock to this place because of it's great location along the water, near access to cruises, live bands that play popular music, and the more affordable prices of some of the shops.
You will find that the majority of the shops here will fall under the fashion category, including such popular names as Claire's, Wet Seal, Victoria's Secret, and Guess. This will be a great place to buy some souvenirs also if you are traveling, and they sell many trinkets and some oddities to cater to the tourist. Another nice thing about the Bayside Marketplace is that the local bus will take you right to this mall so it can be very convenient for locals. And if you get hungry, there are several dining options available to fill you up.
The night time will also be enjoyable here as you look out over the moonlit bay. You can feel the fresh breeze and great music ringing in your ears, and view couples young and old taking a little time to enjoy some dancing by the bay.

The Falls is known for being a more affordable, relaxing zone, not as upscale as some of the other malls such as Miami Design District, and not as crowded as Dadeland Mall. You'll love the covered walkways, dense green foliage and palm trees, and trickling sounds of water that will give a vacation feel to your trip.
All of the shopping here is placed on one level so you won't have to worry about stairs and escalators. Some of the shops you will find here are: Bloomindale's, Chicos, Abercrombie, American Girl, Claire's, Chico's, Zales, Columbia, New Balance, Lucky, Tablots, Loft, and many more.
There are over one hundred shopping and dining choices here, so you won't lack for options.

Village of Merrick Park
One of the awesome things about this mall is that there are many great stores to choose from but it is not as crowded as some of the other malls in Miami where it can be next to impossible to find a parking space. There are about one hundred different stores here, so while there may be less stores here than at Aventura, for example, this can sometimes make for a less frazzled and more enjoyable experience. Although parking is not free here, Nordstrom will validate parking for 2 hours if you make a purchase there.
Although there are some men's stores here, and probably enough to satisfy most men's tastes, the majority of the stores are geared towards women's fashion and accessories. A few shoe, houseware, and specialty stores are thrown into the mix as well to give you a well rounded blend of stores for your shopping delight and convenience. Many of these stores are well-known brands such as J. Crew, Cole Haan, Jimmy Choo, Kate Spade, and the popular Tiffany and co.
Tip: Although some of the stores can put you out quite a few dollars, sales abound, so keep your eyes open for them! Their website will fill you in if you look under their "shopping" tab.
